Expert Designer/Grant Writer
My work combines two complementary pursuits: designing and producing innovative health and educational games and raising the funds for these imaginative projects by writing successful grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, non-profit organizations, and businesses.
I've collaborated with outstanding artists and developers and designed/produced more than two dozen engaging and award-winning educational apps, health and educational games, museum exhibits, instructional software programs and videos.
I've written many successful proposals to federal agencies (NSF, NIH, IMLS), non-profit organizations (WGBH-PBS Boston, NextTen, Stanford University, and others) and for-profit educational companies (Pearson, McGraw-Hill). My federal grant proposal success rate is 52% (13 grants for 25 projects seeking funding).
Product design skills include: competitive analysis, user research, affinity grouping, wireframing, rapid prototyping, frequent user testing, and agile project management.
Proposal development skills include: needs analysis, funding/funder research, creative ideation with team members, and proposal preparation including budgeting, scheduling, and budget justifications. I also design and manage grant proposal pipelines.
